Air towers

My profession is related to regular, frequent flights across Europe, as well as to other parts of the world, so I can to say that airports, their common architecture often make the first impression of the city. Not only functionality and service are important, but the visual image to be enjoyed as well. 

A precondition for air traffic and human travel is technologically modern air traffic control tower's regulation. 

The history of airport traffic control towers is recent. In 1920, Croydon Airport in London was the first in the world to introduce air traffic control. The "airport control tower" was actually a wooden building 4.6 meters high with windows on all four sides, which was put into operation on February 25, 1920, and provided pilots with basic information about traffic, weather and location.

When I started my work, I reviewed the architecture of more than 400 airport air traffic control towers, some of them I have seen live. The different towers in form, materials and silhouettes have also served as a source of inspiration for my work. It has always been important for me to create a functional, usable object, a logically constructed form.

There are practically no two airport towers the same in the world, each with its own nuance and architecture. In researching them, I have noted those that were the most interesting and inspiring.

Porcelain has been chosen as the material for the work, it is the hardest and most durable ceramic material, although it is very capricious and deforms when burned. However, the modulation of the author's shapes reduces the possibility of deformation. The white tone of the material highlights both the silhouette and the shape.

The set of porcelain vases consists of several vases of the same height but different silhouette. As a result, the play of moonlight and the rhythmic arrangement of shapes will make the vases interesting even when there are no flowers in them.
